About the event
This weeks topic is anxiety. Anxiety is a feeling of fear, dread, or worry that can be a normal reaction to stress or a more persistent mental health condition. Symptoms include restlessness, a rapid heartbeat, and difficulty concentrating, and causes can range from genetics and brain chemistry to stressful life events and medical conditions. Some common types of anxiety include GAD, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. Discuss common beliefs (helpless, failure), common distortions (fortune-telling, magnification), common automatic thoughts (“I can’t cope with this.”), common feelings (anxious, worried, fearful, afraid), common behaviors (isolate, shut down, and avoidance which is the most common got to coping skill).
