CHARLOTTE

Veterans Administration Secretary James Peake is
expected at the opening of a new VA outpatient clinic
in Charlotte that officials hope will provide "one-stop shopping" for all veterans.

The Charlotte Observer reported that the
52,000-square-foot clinic that's scheduled to open
Monday will include a lab, pharmacy, eye and audiology clinics
and radiology services.

Fifteen doctors will staff the clinic, which
will serve veterans from Mecklenburg, Gaston,
Cabarrus, Union, Gaston and Lincoln counties.

Carolyn Adams is the director of Salisbury's VA
hospital, which also oversees the Charlotte
clinic, along with clinics in Winston-Salem and
Hickory.

She said the clinic is an effort to "provide easy access to veterans"
and one-stop shopping.
